On July 28th some of the newer members tried their first Clout event. The weather was kind: warm and sunny with a little cooling breeze. Not being a common event at RTAC, and with little chance to practice in advance, anyone with a different bow or set-up, or trying for the first time had first to ‘home in’ on the flag, 180yds away for the senior males, compound and recurve, 140yds for male longbow and ladie’s recurve and barebow; and Juniors all disciplines 80yds.
Some were better than others at finding the range – reflected in their scores. Lots of walking and chatting in the sun made for a pleasant day, if not frustrating for some.
Scoring – arrows laid out on tape and measured against the scoring zones
A relaxed presentation by Lady P, Vicki with the customary nibbles at the end and less to clear up saw everyone away quite smartly.

Confirmation of this event was delayed due to RHS&SC having ‘Help the Heroes’ football match at the weekend and it was not clear we would be able to proceed with the shoot. We now have the all clear!
In sweltering heat and blazing sunshine, a dedicated group of fiercely competitive archers gathered to shoot a National round, working up an appetite for the traditional Sunday Lunch laid on by the Runwell Social Club.
Some excellent shooting by juniors and seniors alike resulted in some fine scores. A good turnout, fantastic weather and enjoyable meal (many thanks to the chefs of RHSSC – it must have been a very hot kitchen!).
