Rayleigh Town Archery Club fields a team of seniors for the Essex County Archery Association’s annual Albion League: a competition spanning the summer and comprising 6 monthly matches against clubs from around the county.
Fixtures for the Albion Recurve league are available here: Albion Recurve Fixtures 2018 (.pdf). Note that all matches except the first are at our home ground! There is one ‘bye’ – I will try to organize a friendly for that date, along with a ‘pre-season’ warm up shoot one Sunday early in May.
If you would like to take part in these friendly, relaxed shoots and did not shoot last year, please get in touch.
An update for the 2018 league is that we will now be fielding a Longbow team (shooting a Western round). This is a postal league – similar to the Compound Albion league. If you would like to take part and haven’t already let me know please get in touch. Fixtures have yet to be announced.
Rayleigh Town wins Division 1!
We enjoyed a fantastic summer of (mostly) glorious weather, shooting 5 very successful matches against our neighbouring clubs, along with a relaxed and useful ‘friendly’ against Malgrave, and culminating in a tense, thrilling grand finale at Runwell where we had the two remaining matches of the league running side-by-side.
Final standings and results available as usual from the ECAA League page
Rayleigh places 3rd in Div 1 following 2 losses out of the 4 matches we shot.

Congratulations to the Rayleigh Town Senior Team for achieving 3rd place in Division 1! This year’s action saw some first-rate shooting with a few PBs and very narrow margins against tough competition, often in challenging weather. We should be proud to have made the top three teams in the County!
Below are match reports from the 2014 season. Final standings and individual scores for the year are available at the ECAA League page.
In 2013, the team competed in Division 1, against some very strong opposition from the likes of Mayflower, Colchester District, Ardleigh and West Essex.
At the end of the season (the first in Division 1 for a few years), Rayleigh placed a creditable 4th!
